MED2DC was conceived as a result of an observation made at the end of Euromed Youth Program II (2001-2004). Our European partners pointed out that it was difficult to develop projects in Jordan because of lack of networks of partnerships and because of the low participation of associations in this program compared to other MEDA countries
After the radical stop of the Euromed Youth programme in Jordan, the dynamic work surrounding training activities, EVS projects and exchange programs were interrupted. As a result, we became more willing to engage in a new process to develop actions for young people, relying on a network of partners, through entering into a long-term cooperation.
This action targets leaders of organisations from different Euro-Mediterranean countries, able to decide on behalf of their organizations to engage in youth exchange and EVS projects. This action aims at:
- Promote mutual understanding and intercultural dialogue between young people in the Euro-Mediterranean region, thanks to the reflection on using different tools to meet the concerns and needs of young people (media, sports, culture …etc)
- Promote active citizenship among young people and develop their sense of solidarity by planning EVS projects, that enables the young people to work in community projects.
- Strengthen the involvement of non-governmental youth organizations in civil society and democracy, by enforcing their capacities, especially in their ability to integrate independently within this new program.
